Last friday, July 31, I attended a grand launching that will definitely make the convenience store scene in Cebu a lot more interesting! There was a dance showdown and performances by Yolanda Moon and wait for it… Up Dharma Down! All made possible by FamilyMart! They have finally reached the shores of Cebu! FamilyMart is one of the world’s largest convenience store retailers and they have just simultaneously opened five stores in Cebu to mark its much-awaited arrival in the region.
In the Philippines, FamilyMart is operated by Philippine FamilyMart CVS, Inc. – a joint venture between leading specialty store retailer SSI Group Inc., property titan Ayala Land Inc., Japan FamilyMart and one of Japan’s largest conglomerates Itochu Corporation. From opening its first store in the country in 2013, it has grown to over 100 stores spread across strategic locations in Metro Manila.

FamilyMart embarks on another milestone as it formally launches its first five stores outside Luzon through its territorial franchisee, Family Table Inc. Opening this week are FamilyMart stores located in Arc One Capitol Square in Escario, Streetscape at Maria Luisa Road, Banilad, and eBloc Towers 1, 2 and 3 in Cebu I.T. Park.
I’ve visited FamilyMart branches in the wee hours of Manila and thought that their FamilyCafe, aside from their Japanese selections, is what sets them apart from other convenience stores. You get to eat a full meal, drink good coffee, eat snacks, etc. anytime, literally! Haha Other palate pleasers include a FamilyMart Collection label that consists of imported snacks including a green tea collection and newly launched bread items.
Not your usual iced tea! They have them four colors! Okay, four flavors but they do have different colors. Haha
A popular favorite of many is the signature Twirl All-You-Can soft serve ice cream in green tea and black sesame. Now, don’t get all too greedy with this. You might end up having your soft ice cream on the floor than on your cone. Haha But if you a “master twirler”then you should definitely twirl all you can!
Fresh Japanese selections include sushi, onigiri and ramen while the Fresh N’ Lite line promotes a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing flavor with a variety of brown rice meals, pasta and vegetables.
