I miss my gray/grey hair. However, I would never go back to dying my hair again. It took so much time and effort to maintain. Still, we never know. I might go back at it again. Haha It was the time when almost anything I wear was elevated simply because my hair was gray/grey. It was also strange how I automatically did not mind the stares I get every time I go out. I’m not sure but I think it’s because I just don’t care what other people think. There are only a few people I know whose thoughts matter.

If you are the type of guy who finds it a bit awkward in playing around with print then here’s a tip for you. Black and white is the easiest and the most basic hues you will encounter. don’t get me wrong because that is a good start. You don’t have to dye your hair. Haha You can start with black and white prints. You can also opt for prints that only take up 25% to 50% of the shirt. That way, you can smoothly transition to color and shirts that are in full print.

It does take time to learn how to play with prints and color. It is very tricky. Don’t you worry! Once you get the hang of it, you will mix and match like it’s in the back of your head. Just take small steps. Don’t get me started with proportions. I don’t know how Koreans do it but they are really good at it. Well, that is for another blog post. Just stick with the basics for now and put a little spin to it.
this whole look revolved around my shirt. I had to tone down the other elements because of the pullover. Hey, how often do you see a guy with a lot of Tigers printed on a jersey pullover? Anyway, I just put on white khaki pants and a pair of black leather shoes. Topped it off with black framed sunglasses. It’s that simple! Just 3 items and 1 accessory!

Open Field https://jessejake.com/2017/open-field/ Wed, 29 Nov 2017 05:05:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/11/29/open-field/

This is one of my favorite spots in Cebu. I know it’s not much. It’s just a random area in SRP but I like the feeling being there. It reminds me of home. Fields that stretch for miles beside the road instead of buildings cramped beside one another. Just looking as far as you can without obstructions. That is why I like it there. Hey! If you look the other way, you get to see the Mactan channel too. =)

My life is getting busier day by day and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the blessings that come my way. However, we all need that small window between our schedules to let our minds breathe. Always take a breather no matter how quick it is. It will rejuvenate you mind allowing those creative juices to flow!

Every now and then, Sophia and I always make sure that we have those little breaks to chill in between our hectic schedules. We also make sure that we have fun in what we are doing. That way, we would not feel like we’re working because we had fun. This also results to authentic and genuine output.
I know have been on and off in blogging but I definitely have a lot in store for you guys. Don’t you worry, I now have a schedule to fit squeeze in blogging. Haha

Now, about the outfit! I rarely wear sleeveless shirts. Well, unless I’m at the beach then I’d probably be wearing tank tops most of the time. In the city, that’s a different story. I just don’t find it appropriate. The cut of this sleeveless shirt somewhat makes it okay for me to wear in the city. I paired it with ash colored tattered pants and black chelsea boots!

Panda https://jessejake.com/2017/panda/ Tue, 22 Aug 2017 13:43:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/08/22/panda/
If it’s not obvious enough, I like Pandas! Haha I haven’t seen one in person and I really hope one day I would get to see one, if not, cuddle with one! As for now, I’ll settle with cute Panda videos on YouTube. This look started with one little Panda patch which I found at a mall nearby. The moment I saw it, my imagination went wild which bore a couple of DIY’s and this is one of those.

There tons of DIY which you can do with patches but I kept this on simple in a way. I know this will still turn head considering how grey/gray my hair color is at this time. Hey, black and white is still simple right? haha

I started off with the shoes which took quite some time. I learned a lot making this which also influenced my next DIY. I simply bought a lot of the Panda patches and a pair of black slip on shoes. I used fabric glue on this which. Sounds easy? Well, it is not because you have to hold it down until the glue dries up. Otherwise it will peel off. In this case, I used clips to hold it in place. Left it over night and, Voila! I’ve got a pair of patch studded Panda shoes! =)

I still had one Panda patch left after the shoe project was done. I decided to use it for the shirt. It was a no brainer. I just stuck it on with fabric blue on the upper right side of an old white shirt. I just stayed with the black and white scheme for the whole look. I wore black cropped pants to showcase the shoes. Topped the look with black round specs and the look was complete! This is by far one of my favorite looks. =) By the way, if you decide to use parches, it is still best to sew it on. It will definitely last as long as your item.

Yes! I still have my fluffy gray hair in these photos. Haha Well, my gray hair wasn’t always fluffy but as it grew it went fluffier and fluffier. It took a lot of maintenance and I had no patience for that. So I decided to get rid of the color. Maybe soon I’ll give a hair color a try again but for now I’m keeping my natural color. Okay back to these photos! This pullover takes a lot of confidence to wear. Match it with the gray hair and I quickly learned how to ignore my surroundings. Haha I can’t deny that this combo will definitely turn heads.

I even remember the time when I bought this pullover at H&M. I was shopping with friends. I had my eyes set on the pullover so it’s the first one I took hold of. While looking for other stuff, I walked right back into the aisle where the pullover was hung and my friends were their talking about the pullover. They were like, “Whoa! The shirt is too much. You could pawn that. Hahaha” Trust me, it’s funnier in Visayan! Haha I even chuckled but I laughed even more when they saw the exact same pullover on my hand. They immediately withdrew what they said by saying that I am probably one of the few who could pull it off. Haha

This shirt is surely a statement in itself. For someone to pull this off, one must understand how it works. With that said, I started by understanding it’s shape. I know that pullovers have the same shape but this one is different. It falls to my body like those over sized pulllovers in the 90’s. Not the poofy ones. From there, I understood that it had to be worn with fitted pants to make sure I do not look big and, at the same time, complement the shape of the pullover. After that, everything was easy. Since the top was already very loud, I had to pair it with plain colors so as not to have the whole look implode. That’s it! First, understand the shape of what you’re wearing. Second, know the colors and make sure they do not clash! =)

Pinto https://jessejake.com/2017/pinto/ Thu, 25 May 2017 11:25:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/05/25/pinto/
The thing I like about visiting Manila is meeting and catching up with friends. I think I have already mentioned that here on my blog. Anyway, we also get to visit new places with them. This one is not really new but it was our first time visiting Pinto Art Museum. So I dare say it’s new! Haha. Kim, Jed, Sophia, and I went on a mini road trip to reach the museum and boy did we have loads of fun. I don’t know why but whatever we do with these guys. We always have a blast!

Funny thing when we went there is that we bumped into someone who was also wearing overalls like I did. Different manufacturers and different styling, though. I mean, what are the odds of two guys wearing overalls in the same place at the same time? Haha

The place was awesome and we had so much fun to and from the museum. We enjoyed the day with paintings, sculptures, installation art, architecture, food, and friends! You can never go wrong to the places you go as long as you are in good company. Thanks again, Kim and Jed! =)

I don’t know if you guys have noticed but I had this time when I really want to wear overalls. It was difficult looking for overalls for men. Luckily, I found some and now I have three! Haha I have yet to blog about the other one so that will be for another post.

Overalls, for me, are very functional! The pockets on your chest are very useful for almost anything you want to get a hold of as fast as you can. You also do not have to worry if your pants drop down an inch or something. I just love it! It was easy styling the overall. I just wore a white printed button up shirt. I made sure the print was in black and consistent all throughout so as not to make the combination messy. Topped the whole look with a medium brimmed fedora and round specs to complement the shape of the fedora. The white slip on shoes were automatic to balance out the white from the black. By the way, my hair was still gray when this was shot so I managed to maintain the look in monotone all throughout. I didn’t play with color since the look already played with an uncommon silhouette for men. =)

Black and Yellow https://jessejake.com/2017/black-and-yellow/ Mon, 10 Apr 2017 05:48:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/04/10/black-and-yellow/
I just noticed that I only have a few short sleeved shirts. I can seriously just count them of with my ten fingers. So, I decided that I needed to add up the digits since the summer heat is literally taking its toll on me. I don’t want to go in full tank top as well unless I’m on the beach or off to the pool. Let’s start with this shirt from Oxygen.

This shirt came from their Billboard Collection. What I really like about is how it’s really comfortable and breezy. Just what I needed! I like how it has that old school feel as well.

Tucked in shirt, pebble washed jeans, and socks are back! Yes, believe it or not. When they say that trends repeat around 20 to 30 years, It’s true! This one I particularly like because I grew up on these trends when my mum would style me when I was a kid. Okay, the jeans I am wearing on these photos are not pebble washed but the color is really close to it. I actually got legit pebble washed jeans from Bershka but that’s for another blog post. Haha Back to the outfit! I just simply tucked in my shirt and revolved to the colors blue, white, and red. I made sure to show off my white socks by folding my socks too. It’s fun playing around with proportions, tucking in, folding and colors! It may be a little tricky but you will get the hang of it. Just make sure that you put a modern twist on it to avoid looking costume-ish. =)

From Last Summer https://jessejake.com/2017/from-last-summer/ Thu, 23 Feb 2017 23:55:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/02/23/from-last-summer/
Summer is just a few days away and I definitely haven’t been active here on my blog lately. Don’t you worry, I’ve just found a sweet spot on my schedule to squeeze in blogging. I really have a lot in store for you guys and I just can’t wait to share them with you!

Enough about me whining about my busy schedule and let’s get started with summer! This season is probably my favorite. I don’t exactly know why but there is just a very upbeat feel about it. Everyone is excited and loads of outdoor activities to look forward to. I can’t help but feel excited to hit the beach and chill or just simply hangout with friends.
These photos were actually taken last year. Yes! I know it’s long over due but it doesn’t seem like it is outdated at all. My girlfriend and I spent her birthday weekend at Bantayan Island and it’s one of our most memorable trips so far. Both of us have grown out of enjoying parties and loud clubs in town to as a means of having fun. We are now ecstatic about the gentle sound of the seashore and the peaceful charm of the island. I can’t wait to do just that this year.

This is one of the looks that I clearly planned out. Whenever my girlfriend and I go on a trip or a short staycation, we always make sure that we have our looks laid out for each day. Sometimes, it’s more than one look per day. Okay! Most of the time it’s more than one look per day. Haha.
This one is all about the button up shirt. It is quite a statement piece but an understatement for summer. After all, it is the time when we can wear loud and bright colors to brush off the heat of the sun. I wore the button up with the a white tank top to neutralize the dynamic print. I then topped it off with ripped jeans and a straw hat to give the whole look a laid back feel and ease to it. I hope this look gives you ideas on how you want to pair up your clothes this summer! =)

Tomorrow it is https://jessejake.com/2016/tomorrow-it-is/ Sat, 26 Nov 2016 07:57:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/11/26/tomorrow-it-is/

Best Cebu Blogs Awards 2016 (BCBA) is happening tomorrow! My blog is nominated under Best Style Blog category. Here are some looks that I have yet to post in this blog. Yes! I still have a lot in store for you guys! =)

Three years ago, I never thought of actually making a blog myself. I didn’t have the slightest idea of what blogging is. However, I have a very pushy girlfriend who literally forced me to make one and even had deadlines for me to meet. Turns out, blogging is fun! It’s something both my girlfriend and I do in our free time and in between our schedules. Without Sophia, this blog wouldn’t have existed.
I also have Cebu Fashion Bloggers (CFB) to thank for. Being a member of the most fashionable blogging group in the city really kept me on my toes! Haha In a good way, ofcourse. I joined the group because I wanted to make friends who had the same interests as Sophia and I did. Well I got more than that! They are the friends your parents want you to hang out with. Hanging out with  people who your parents warned you about might sound cool  but, trust me, you’ll regret that. =) My CFB family helped me a lot. Aside from the friendship, they gave me tips on how to make blog even better in order to achieve the quality that my readers deserve. One look at them and they inspire me to do better. All that without losing the essence of having fun! It’s one of the things we prioritize about blogging… fun! =)

jessejake.com is just a little over two years old and I guess I’ve done something good with this blog. I do hope that it has turned better than what it used to be. I’ve slowly grown to understand what my goal is for, other than just because my girlfriend pushed me to. This blog is for the guys out there who think dressing up is expensive, difficult, and/or feminine. I’ve come to challenge that because I believe otherwise. Dressing up doesn’t have to be expensive. Styling doesn’t have to be difficult, there are tips on my posts that I usually give to make it easier. Feminine? Fashion does not have a gender. Know what suits you then wear what you want. It does not hurt to dress up. In fact, it’ll make your day, if not a lot, a little better! =)

I didn’t expect to get nominated in any award giving body because… I just didn’t. It’s maybe because  I never do something in pursuit of awards but rather in pursuit of things that I myself can’t explain. I guess the nomination is a good thing? Yes, it is! It goes to show that you’ve done something right! =)

Shout out to my fellow Cebu Fashion Bloggers who are also nominated in tomorrow’s BCBA! Also to BCBA Bronze Sponsor, Huawei Philippines! Yes, most of my ootd’s were taken with a Huawei P9! =)

This event would not be possible without the following sponsors and partners. Co-Presenters are PLDT Home and Megaworld Corporation. Official ride sharing partner, Uber Philippines. Gold Sponsors are Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, and Jolibee. Donor sponsors are Krispy Kreme Philippines, Greenwich Philippines, Starbucks Philippines, Memoriter Writing Services, JKA Glass Enterprises, JAVDERS – Cebu Projectors for Rent. Media Partners is Cebu Bloggers’s Society. Official photographer is Alvin Asayas Photography.

Blue Staycation https://jessejake.com/2016/blue-staycation/ Sat, 05 Nov 2016 12:36:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/11/05/blue-staycation/
Life gets too stressful most of the time. Busy schedules, errands, and (let’s face it) difficult people drain our last bit of energy. That’s why Sophia and I decided to take a 3 day break from all of that. We all need to take that breather from time to time. We were very excited that we prepared for it for weeks! Haha

The place of choice was Amisa Residences in Mactan. It was just right for us because it was just more or less an hour drive from home. So travel time was short for we really need every minute to unwind. It was perfect! Our Airbnb host was very accommodating. The place was clean and had everything we needed. The area was very peaceful as well. Just what we wanted! We also had the whole pool area to ourselves. Haha

Ofcourse, we had our outfits planned for each day! This is what I wore on our first day there. It reminds me a lot of Marco. He’s one of Cebu’s most credible fashion blogger and a good friend of mine. Even before everyone else was wearing bandanas on their necks, he already had a collection of neck scarves and bandanas. I wanted to wear something that shouts “Vacation”! Haha This is what I came up with. I wore a tank top and blue cropped pants topped it with a blue bandana neck scarf. The three pieces gives that summer pool side vibe. However, I still wanted to look appropriate indoors which is why I wore the unbuttoned shirt and white sneakers. A sunny vacation wouldn’t be complete without sunglasses. So I wore a silver framed aviator with blue flash lens. Just added the bracelets to add a little bit of fun on my wrist! Haha
