I miss my gray/grey hair. However, I would never go back to dying my hair again. It took so much time and effort to maintain. Still, we never know. I might go back at it again. Haha It was the time when almost anything I wear was elevated simply because my hair was gray/grey. It was also strange how I automatically did not mind the stares I get every time I go out. I’m not sure but I think it’s because I just don’t care what other people think. There are only a few people I know whose thoughts matter.

If you are the type of guy who finds it a bit awkward in playing around with print then here’s a tip for you. Black and white is the easiest and the most basic hues you will encounter. don’t get me wrong because that is a good start. You don’t have to dye your hair. Haha You can start with black and white prints. You can also opt for prints that only take up 25% to 50% of the shirt. That way, you can smoothly transition to color and shirts that are in full print.

It does take time to learn how to play with prints and color. It is very tricky. Don’t you worry! Once you get the hang of it, you will mix and match like it’s in the back of your head. Just take small steps. Don’t get me started with proportions. I don’t know how Koreans do it but they are really good at it. Well, that is for another blog post. Just stick with the basics for now and put a little spin to it.
this whole look revolved around my shirt. I had to tone down the other elements because of the pullover. Hey, how often do you see a guy with a lot of Tigers printed on a jersey pullover? Anyway, I just put on white khaki pants and a pair of black leather shoes. Topped it off with black framed sunglasses. It’s that simple! Just 3 items and 1 accessory!

Open Field http://jessejake.com/2017/open-field/ Wed, 29 Nov 2017 05:05:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/11/29/open-field/

This is one of my favorite spots in Cebu. I know it’s not much. It’s just a random area in SRP but I like the feeling being there. It reminds me of home. Fields that stretch for miles beside the road instead of buildings cramped beside one another. Just looking as far as you can without obstructions. That is why I like it there. Hey! If you look the other way, you get to see the Mactan channel too. =)

My life is getting busier day by day and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the blessings that come my way. However, we all need that small window between our schedules to let our minds breathe. Always take a breather no matter how quick it is. It will rejuvenate you mind allowing those creative juices to flow!

Every now and then, Sophia and I always make sure that we have those little breaks to chill in between our hectic schedules. We also make sure that we have fun in what we are doing. That way, we would not feel like we’re working because we had fun. This also results to authentic and genuine output.
I know have been on and off in blogging but I definitely have a lot in store for you guys. Don’t you worry, I now have a schedule to fit squeeze in blogging. Haha

Now, about the outfit! I rarely wear sleeveless shirts. Well, unless I’m at the beach then I’d probably be wearing tank tops most of the time. In the city, that’s a different story. I just don’t find it appropriate. The cut of this sleeveless shirt somewhat makes it okay for me to wear in the city. I paired it with ash colored tattered pants and black chelsea boots!

Panda http://jessejake.com/2017/panda/ Tue, 22 Aug 2017 13:43:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/08/22/panda/
If it’s not obvious enough, I like Pandas! Haha I haven’t seen one in person and I really hope one day I would get to see one, if not, cuddle with one! As for now, I’ll settle with cute Panda videos on YouTube. This look started with one little Panda patch which I found at a mall nearby. The moment I saw it, my imagination went wild which bore a couple of DIY’s and this is one of those.

There tons of DIY which you can do with patches but I kept this on simple in a way. I know this will still turn head considering how grey/gray my hair color is at this time. Hey, black and white is still simple right? haha

I started off with the shoes which took quite some time. I learned a lot making this which also influenced my next DIY. I simply bought a lot of the Panda patches and a pair of black slip on shoes. I used fabric glue on this which. Sounds easy? Well, it is not because you have to hold it down until the glue dries up. Otherwise it will peel off. In this case, I used clips to hold it in place. Left it over night and, Voila! I’ve got a pair of patch studded Panda shoes! =)

I still had one Panda patch left after the shoe project was done. I decided to use it for the shirt. It was a no brainer. I just stuck it on with fabric blue on the upper right side of an old white shirt. I just stayed with the black and white scheme for the whole look. I wore black cropped pants to showcase the shoes. Topped the look with black round specs and the look was complete! This is by far one of my favorite looks. =) By the way, if you decide to use parches, it is still best to sew it on. It will definitely last as long as your item.

Blue Staycation http://jessejake.com/2016/blue-staycation/ Sat, 05 Nov 2016 12:36:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/11/05/blue-staycation/
Life gets too stressful most of the time. Busy schedules, errands, and (let’s face it) difficult people drain our last bit of energy. That’s why Sophia and I decided to take a 3 day break from all of that. We all need to take that breather from time to time. We were very excited that we prepared for it for weeks! Haha

The place of choice was Amisa Residences in Mactan. It was just right for us because it was just more or less an hour drive from home. So travel time was short for we really need every minute to unwind. It was perfect! Our Airbnb host was very accommodating. The place was clean and had everything we needed. The area was very peaceful as well. Just what we wanted! We also had the whole pool area to ourselves. Haha

Ofcourse, we had our outfits planned for each day! This is what I wore on our first day there. It reminds me a lot of Marco. He’s one of Cebu’s most credible fashion blogger and a good friend of mine. Even before everyone else was wearing bandanas on their necks, he already had a collection of neck scarves and bandanas. I wanted to wear something that shouts “Vacation”! Haha This is what I came up with. I wore a tank top and blue cropped pants topped it with a blue bandana neck scarf. The three pieces gives that summer pool side vibe. However, I still wanted to look appropriate indoors which is why I wore the unbuttoned shirt and white sneakers. A sunny vacation wouldn’t be complete without sunglasses. So I wore a silver framed aviator with blue flash lens. Just added the bracelets to add a little bit of fun on my wrist! Haha

Concrete Jungle http://jessejake.com/2016/concrete-jungle/ Sun, 09 Oct 2016 13:51:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/10/09/concrete-jungle/

Last weekend, Sophia and I went to Manila for an event. I will blog about it soon! The event was for only one night but we decided to extend our stay to hangout with friends. Ofcourse, we had a couple of shoots too and visited some shops. Haha

These photos were taken at BGC (Bonifacio Global City) on our second day. We always make it a point to visit the place since Bonifacio Highstreet, Market! Market!, and SM Aura are just walking distance from one another. Also, BGC is a photo friendly city which means we can take ootd pictures basically anywhere!
It was supposed to have a thunderstorm on that day which is why I wore my jacket and boots. It was quite cloudy early in the morning. By the time we got to BGC, it was scorching hot! Haha That’s why I wrapped my jacket around my torso. I didn’t want to carry it with my hand because that’s a hassle! Besides, I like how it looks! =)

Manila will always be a concrete jungle in my head. I decided to wear a camouflage shirt because I wanted to counter that. You might think ‘jungle’ and ‘camouflage’ blend in but ‘concrete jungle’ and the actual ‘jungle’ are two different things. Haha It really took a lot of confidence wearing this whole look. However, I’ve already learned how to muster all of confidence in having ash/gray hair.
The look was easy to come by. Okay the gray hair took a lot of time but forget that! Haha Just mind the outfit. I started with the camouflage long line shirt and played with lengths with the jacket. I wanted to complement the length of the shirt at the same time make sure to outline the proportion of my body. The jacket did just that. The gray pants give a solid foundation on the color aspect while making my hair not look out of place. The boots were an after thought. Haha It kind of brings us back to the stigma that camouflage has. When people are faced with camouflage, most people would immediately associate it with the military. So, the boots totally top off that military vibe. =)

Seaside Serenity http://jessejake.com/2016/seaside-serenity/ Sun, 25 Sep 2016 01:21:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/09/25/seaside-serenity/

My girlfriend and I love chilling at SM Seaside. Well, if we really want to chill then we’d drive to the beach or up to the mountains but this one is when we only have little time to spare. For one, the mall is huge! There are also not that many people around. There are also a lot of venues where we can shoot our ootd’s! Haha

We usually go there as soon as the mall opens. Guess why? Yes! There aren’t that many people going to the mall in the morning. Haha Also, by the time people come swarming in, we’re already inside the cinema. Haha As much as I love to party occasionally and meet people, I don’t like crowds most of the time.

I actually recycled this look from our CFB Christmas Dinner. I didn’t get to take a good picture of this look and I like this look. So I wore the whole ensemble again just to get a good set of photos of it. We just used my Huawei P9 for this because I didn’t want to bring the bulky DSLR. Hey, I bet you barely even notice the difference! Haha

The theme of our CFB Dinner was “Serenity and Rose Quartz” which was based on the Pantone colors for 2016. Ofcourse, we chose that so our clothes will be very well coordinated. Haha I really wanted to wear something rose quartz because that would be something unexpected from me of that time. As we all know, it was difficult to find rose quartz colored clothing for men in 2015. Now, its everywhere! Obviously, I went for serenity and it worked well between my girlfriend and I. She wore a terno rose quartz separates. Just paired my button up with khakis to warm up the coldness of the color serenity. The white low down high cuts balanced out the look by counteracting the ‘prim and proper’ feel of the button up and the khakis. =)

Messy http://jessejake.com/2016/messy/ http://jessejake.com/2016/messy/#comments Tue, 23 Aug 2016 09:51:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/08/23/messy/
I’ve always wanted to pull off something messy, hence the title. However, I was always uncertain because I might end up looking like someone who did not take a shower for more than a week. Or is that the look I’m aiming for? haha A bit confusing ei?

Okay, I was not opting for that look. I wanted to look like I just didn’t care and I think I got that vibe. First thing, it was scorching hot and I’m wearing pieces in gray and black. Second, I’m wearing a pair of high cuts on the beach. Haha I guess that screams, “I don’t care!” Whatever I’m wearing, it would still be scorching hot for me, anyway.

Believe it or not, I tie dyed that shirt myself. Okay, maybe I did a really bad job at it but hey… I like it! Haha I just cut the sleeves off, tied a knot at the middle, and threw it in a pot of boiling dyed water. After that, it was easy styling with the shirt. I wanted a full black on black look for the beach but that’s for another blog post. Stay tuned for that one! Anyway, I just went for my black shorts and curduroy black chucks with white soles. Also kept my hair messy for added effect. Held myself from going to the barber shop just to make this look legit! Haha

By the way, did I mention that I only used my phone for these photos? Haha Yes, these were taken by a phone. Specifically, the Huawei P9. I almost forgot these weren’t DSLR photos. I guess the Leica dual camera set up really works! =)

Bridge http://jessejake.com/2016/bridge/ Tue, 09 Aug 2016 04:12:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/08/09/bridge/

Last Saturday, I finally conquered the most iconic bridge in Cebu. . . Marcelo Fernan Bridge! I’ve always wanted to take a walk there and enjoy the view. I’ve been passing through the bridge multiple times. When I was a kid, and the bridge has just opened, I was in awe by how amazing it looked. Yeah, there are a lot like it but it was my first encounter with an actual cable-stayed bridge.

Sophia and I meticulously planned on when and how we’re going there. Haha The traffic most of the time is crazy there. We had to plan where to park the car. We also had to check what time will there be perfect lighting. What time are there less cars and people. What time is less hot and humid because I can’t stand that. Ofcourse, we had to plan what to wear! Haha

Our plan went out perfectly. It went without a single glitch. Well, there were many people jogging through the bridge which I never expected. It was all good because it kind of made me feel safe and reassuring that its legal to take a walk there. Haha There are sidewalks anyway so… duh! Ofcourse, it’s legal! Haha

I even thought we’d be bullied or teased by people there because we were posing with our ootd’s but they actually did not care. I mean, they did but in a good way. Most of the joggers would stop because they were considerate enough not to photobomb. That’s why we always let them pass by first before any shots were taken. I like it there. People were nice! The air was strangely fresh and the view was stunning!

I opted to wear something sporty because I knew we’ll be walking a lot and I would be sweating a lot. Haha In the end, I did not even break a sweat because it was breezy that Saturday morning. Anyway, my whole look revolved around the bucket hat. I know some people find it difficult to wear bucket hats but it’s actually not that hard. Just think as if you’re wearing your snapback. Trust me, it will be easier styling your outfit after you’ve thought of it that way. Sometimes it does take getting used to but it definitely works like a charm. The easiest route for me to create a look based on the hat is to go for black but I didn’t go that way. I went for the details of the hat. This Kaua Wela bucket hat from New Era had rose quartz and hints of gray on it. So, I took those colors to my shirt, shorts, and shoes! Voila! My whole look is complete. Now imagine this look with a snapback! It still works, doesn’t it?
Guys, take note of that tip! Dress up with a bucket hat thinking like you’re wearing a snapback. Haha You guys can buy this Kaua Wela bucket hat at New Era in SM Seaside City upper ground floor. It also comes in white! Shout out to New Era, Grupo Agatep, and Gian for my hat!

Mickey’s Bucket http://jessejake.com/2016/mickeys-bucke/ Thu, 04 Aug 2016 13:28:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2016/08/04/mickeys-bucke/

A few months ago, New Era finally opened a store in Cebu! When I got the invite for their opening, I was more than ecstatic about it. It literally felt like I was in a candy store when I got there. They have more than 500 cap designs to choose from! Imagine that! I was surrounded by loads and loads of awesome caps. If you’re like me who just can’t get enough of caps, this global brand definitely has more than enough in store for you.

If you’ve been with me in my early stages of blogging, you probably noticed how I like the iconic Mickey Mouse. So when got to the store, my eyes were already set on New Era’s Mickey Mouse Collection. From hundreds and hundreds of designs, at least I got to narrow my choices down to one collection. Haha Still, it was difficult to choose one because I want them all!

Ultimately, I chose the white Mickey Mouse bucket hat because its the perfect combination of what I want and wanted. I’ve always wanted a Mickey Mouse hat and I also wanted bucket hats at the moment. So, I guess I got the best of both worlds. Haha

In my opinion, we’re in a decade where everything is in trend as long you have the guts and you know how to pull it off. Jumpers and bucket hats are in revival. I remember wearing both when I was a kid. Now, they’re back! But this time with better fit and better designs. There are a variety of bucket hats out now in New Era. I even got another one which I will post soon. The quality is impeccable and you also get to choose the right size for your head! Haha What I love about these bucket hats is how convenient they are to wear and bring. You can just fold them up and put in your pocket. With the right size, you wont have to worry of it flying off your head. It’s stylish and laid back at the sane time!
The Jumper! I can’t get enough of it. I’ve been wearing it almost all the time. If only I could wear it all the time. The front pockets are very convenient and safe for my phone, pocket wifi, wallet, and keys. Yes, that’s a lot but they don’t appear bulky at all. I’m glad these pieces are back because they are truly functional. They are comfortable as well!
You guys should visit New Era at SM Seaside City Cebu at the upper ground floor. Its cap heaven there. Trust me! Haha
