It’s Christmas season and people are definitely feeling the gift giving spirit! I never forget that this is the month when everybody tells me that I am a very difficult person to give a gift to. The reason? I’m a guy! I’m very well aware that a lot of people, specially ladies, have no idea what they should give to a guy. So here’s a list that, for sure, a guy would like to receive this Christmas!

7. Plain Shirts

Yes! It is as simple as that! Any plain shirt will do. These are items which guys either neglect to buy or takes guys so long to buy a new one. It can be long sleeves or a basic t-shirt. Just make sure that it is in plain color unless he demands the printed ones. To be safe, you can opt for anything black or white. These are wardrobe staples which can be used multiple times in a vast variety of ocassions.

6. Aviators

Why so specific with the style of eye wear? It’s because you can never go wrong with aviators. It’s a classic and it fits any face shape. Trust me, it will look good on him. It would be best that you invest on a good brand for this so that it will last long. I’m sure your special guy will use this over and over again. Might even use it as his daily driver.

5. Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Sometimes, we also want to show off our playlist and everyone loves music. The good thing about portable bluetooth speakers is that you can bring them anywhere without the hassle of wires! That’s right, guys hate hassle. This is definitely convenient for the music lover guy.

4. Backpacks

In my opinion, a guys must at least have one quality backpack that can be used everyday. Men’s stuff are mostly bulky and our sling bags may not be sufficient and/or they are gym bags. Haha Just get the right backpack for you guy and he will use it when needed. Hey, he might be a mountaineer! You can get him that highly functional trekking backpack he’s been eyeing. 

3. Headset/Earphones

Most guys are gamers or just want to shut off the noisy world around them. Earphone will surely be useful. It would be best to get the ones that produce high quality sound. Yes! The quality of sound varies mostly depending on brand. It makes a lot of difference in the whole experience of gaming and/or watching videos. If you get him those high end headset/earphones, he will automatically throw out the ones he has!

2. Watch

This is what I call a classic gift to a guy. I don’t know why but most guys naturally gravitate toward watches. We all know that our smartphones already have a watch in it. However, it is still better to take a look at the time with just a flick of the wrist. For men, watches are basically equivalent to jewelry to women. 

1. Shoes

This is a no brainer! Most guys, if not all, love shoes. From sneakers to dapper brogues, guys have an affair with shoes. Haha Just make sure that you get the right size and the right style. You will surely make his Christmas a memorable one!

Believe or not, guys may have a lot in common but we have different preferences. The list I made is just a rough guide. Your guy might not be so interested in them. Luckily! White price stickers, on the other hand, are the usual price stickers which indicate the regular price. However, never be too shy to ask the friendly sales representatives around. There is a huge possibility that these items are on sale too. I found a white shirt earlier which was priced at Php 89 which is already pretty sweet. It turns out, it was only Php 59! That’s even sweeter! 

Tip number 3: Never ignore those tables on the aisles. They literally contain items at the lowest price possible. Always take a look and you’ll be surprised!

Section 1: Hardware! These items may be at basement 2 but they still pack a punch at discounts. They have buy-one-take-one items too!

Section 3: Bags/Luggage. I know these luggage may seem to be always on sale but just take a look at that photo above. That’s 50% off! 50% off! That’s like buying a piece of luggage for the price of a backpack! I also found these duffel bags at only Php 499 from Php 999! Mind you, these duffel bags have wheels at the bottom too.

Section 4: Shoes. My jaw dropped again. I first saw the 70% of banner which surprised me because I initially though it was only up to 50% off. Metro is definitely being generous with these occasional 70% off gems sneaking around. You thought that was a huge discount? Wait until you see those comfortable slip on shoes at only Php 199!

Section 5: Clothes. Of course, never miss out on these clothes. These items can go as low as Php 59. I also saw some chic basic t-shirts which are at very good quality for only Php 149!

Here’s what we are starting with! Gross, right? haha anyway, it is not that obvious but there are a ton of black heads, white heads. and all other heads. Haha There’s also a pimple or two that pops up from time to time. What I had was Flawless’ Rejuvelite Mask Facial. Really wanted to show you guys how the mask looks but maybe next time. Landers Superstore is finally here in Cebu! Yes, it is officially open today! I got so excited when I heard late last year that they were opening a branch here the Queen City. As many of you might not know, I actually cook. Believe it or not, I do. Haha I enjoy making my own stuff including making my own food. Best Cebu Blogs Awards 2016 (BCBA) is happening tomorrow! My blog is nominated under Best Style Blog category. Here are some looks that I have yet to post in this blog. Yes! I still have a lot in store for you guys! =)

Three years ago, I never thought of actually making a blog myself. I didn’t have the slightest idea of what blogging is. However, I have a very pushy girlfriend who literally forced me to make one and even had deadlines for me to meet. Turns out, blogging is fun! It’s something both my girlfriend and I do in our free time and in between our schedules. Without Sophia, this blog wouldn’t have existed.

I also have Cebu Fashion Bloggers (CFB) to thank for. Being a member of the most fashionable blogging group in the city really kept me on my toes! Haha In a good way, ofcourse. I joined the group because I wanted to make friends who had the same interests as Sophia and I did. Well I got more than that! They are the friends your parents want you to hang out with. Hanging out with  people who your parents warned you about might sound cool  but, trust me, you’ll regret that. =) My CFB family helped me a lot. Aside from the friendship, they gave me tips on how to make blog even better in order to achieve the quality that my readers deserve. One look at them and they inspire me to do better. All that without losing the essence of having fun! It’s one of the things we prioritize about blogging… fun! =)

jessejake.com is just a little over two years old and I guess I’ve done something good with this blog. I do hope that it has turned better than what it used to be. I’ve slowly grown to understand what my goal is for, other than just because my girlfriend pushed me to. This blog is for the guys out there who think dressing up is expensive, difficult, and/or feminine. I’ve come to challenge that because I believe otherwise. Dressing up doesn’t have to be expensive. Styling doesn’t have to be difficult, there are tips on my posts that I usually give to make it easier. Feminine? Fashion does not have a gender. Know what suits you then wear what you want. It does not hurt to dress up. In fact, it’ll make your day, if not a lot, a little better! =)

I didn’t expect to get nominated in any award giving body because… I just didn’t. It’s maybe because  I never do something in pursuit of awards but rather in pursuit of things that I myself can’t explain. I guess the nomination is a good thing? Yes, it is! It goes to show that you’ve done something right! =)

Around two months ago, Sophia and I were contacted last minute to talk at an event about basic styling. I was told that it was for Cancer patients, advocates, and survivors. We immediately said yes despite the very short notice. We seriously thought it was a very intimate event. Little did we know, it was actually the Cancer Fair 2016!

We only knew it was a big event when we arrived at the venue! Haha When we saw the crowd, Sophia panicked! Haha It was her first time talking in public. Turns out, she got a huge crowd waiting for her. She was literally shaking before our time slot. Of course, I was nervous but I guess I got used to it, a little bit, since I’ve done multiple hosting stints before. What I was more nervous about was my lack of sleep. I might get metal blocked and freeze! Good thing, that did not happen. Hurray!

Sophia and I worked hard for that presentation the night before. That was the reason why I only had around two hours of sleep. I did not want to disappoint our audience. Most specially this bunch. The sleepless night, the hard work, the short notice, and the nervousness were all worth it! They were very attentive and I definitely saw that they were sincerely listening. I would do this over and over again in a heartbeat! I can’t empathize what they have been through or what they are going through but heart goes out to the people I met. When I was there, I felt sad for obvious reasons. However, it was those who are going through this unimaginably tough situation that made me feel the happiness that I’ve never felt in quite some time. What we did there was a very small contribution to hopefully help them feel even a tiny bit better. That would mean the world to us. =)

You get to receive a scoop of the most delicious ice cream in town which is exclusively available at Movenpick. By the way, make sure the learning supplies you donate consists of books or school supplies.

Last year, Movenpick was able to collect a total of 1,285 kilograms of charitable supplies. The upscale hospitality company hopes to top that figure this year!  The items donated will be distributed by selected charity organizations or schools in their respective communities. You can help out by handing over your donations to a hotel staff at The Forum, from the 21st of August until the 1st of September 2016.

We are lucky enough to have access to the internet, to have been to school with excess supplies, to have been bought brand new supplies every single school year, and to have had little to no problem at having proper education. A kilogram of learning supplies may not sound much to us but it means a world of difference to the children who will benefit from this. So, lets donate learning supplies, a kilo at a time.
