I miss my gray/grey hair. However, I would never go back to dying my hair again. It took so much time and effort to maintain. Still, we never know. I might go back at it again. Haha It was the time when almost anything I wear was elevated simply because my hair was gray/grey. It was also strange how I automatically did not mind the stares I get every time I go out. I’m not sure but I think it’s because I just don’t care what other people think. There are only a few people I know whose thoughts matter.

If you are the type of guy who finds it a bit awkward in playing around with print then here’s a tip for you. Black and white is the easiest and the most basic hues you will encounter. don’t get me wrong because that is a good start. You don’t have to dye your hair. Haha You can start with black and white prints. You can also opt for prints that only take up 25% to 50% of the shirt. That way, you can smoothly transition to color and shirts that are in full print.

It does take time to learn how to play with prints and color. It is very tricky. Don’t you worry! Once you get the hang of it, you will mix and match like it’s in the back of your head. Just take small steps. Don’t get me started with proportions. I don’t know how Koreans do it but they are really good at it. Well, that is for another blog post. Just stick with the basics for now and put a little spin to it.
this whole look revolved around my shirt. I had to tone down the other elements because of the pullover. Hey, how often do you see a guy with a lot of Tigers printed on a jersey pullover? Anyway, I just put on white khaki pants and a pair of black leather shoes. Topped it off with black framed sunglasses. It’s that simple! Just 3 items and 1 accessory!

Open Field http://jessejake.com/2017/open-field/ Wed, 29 Nov 2017 05:05:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/11/29/open-field/

This is one of my favorite spots in Cebu. I know it’s not much. It’s just a random area in SRP but I like the feeling being there. It reminds me of home. Fields that stretch for miles beside the road instead of buildings cramped beside one another. Just looking as far as you can without obstructions. That is why I like it there. Hey! If you look the other way, you get to see the Mactan channel too. =)

My life is getting busier day by day and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the blessings that come my way. However, we all need that small window between our schedules to let our minds breathe. Always take a breather no matter how quick it is. It will rejuvenate you mind allowing those creative juices to flow!

Every now and then, Sophia and I always make sure that we have those little breaks to chill in between our hectic schedules. We also make sure that we have fun in what we are doing. That way, we would not feel like we’re working because we had fun. This also results to authentic and genuine output.
I know have been on and off in blogging but I definitely have a lot in store for you guys. Don’t you worry, I now have a schedule to fit squeeze in blogging. Haha

Now, about the outfit! I rarely wear sleeveless shirts. Well, unless I’m at the beach then I’d probably be wearing tank tops most of the time. In the city, that’s a different story. I just don’t find it appropriate. The cut of this sleeveless shirt somewhat makes it okay for me to wear in the city. I paired it with ash colored tattered pants and black chelsea boots!

Panda http://jessejake.com/2017/panda/ Tue, 22 Aug 2017 13:43:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/08/22/panda/
If it’s not obvious enough, I like Pandas! Haha I haven’t seen one in person and I really hope one day I would get to see one, if not, cuddle with one! As for now, I’ll settle with cute Panda videos on YouTube. This look started with one little Panda patch which I found at a mall nearby. The moment I saw it, my imagination went wild which bore a couple of DIY’s and this is one of those.

There tons of DIY which you can do with patches but I kept this on simple in a way. I know this will still turn head considering how grey/gray my hair color is at this time. Hey, black and white is still simple right? haha

I started off with the shoes which took quite some time. I learned a lot making this which also influenced my next DIY. I simply bought a lot of the Panda patches and a pair of black slip on shoes. I used fabric glue on this which. Sounds easy? Well, it is not because you have to hold it down until the glue dries up. Otherwise it will peel off. In this case, I used clips to hold it in place. Left it over night and, Voila! I’ve got a pair of patch studded Panda shoes! =)

I still had one Panda patch left after the shoe project was done. I decided to use it for the shirt. It was a no brainer. I just stuck it on with fabric blue on the upper right side of an old white shirt. I just stayed with the black and white scheme for the whole look. I wore black cropped pants to showcase the shoes. Topped the look with black round specs and the look was complete! This is by far one of my favorite looks. =) By the way, if you decide to use parches, it is still best to sew it on. It will definitely last as long as your item.

Shabu Shabu Ichiban http://jessejake.com/2017/shabu-shabu-ichiban/ Thu, 03 Aug 2017 14:16:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/08/03/shabu-shabu-ichiban/

I had the pleasure of being one of the people invited for Shabu Shabu Ichiban’s food tasting. To be honest, I was really hesitant in attending since I am not fond of Japanese or any oriental cuisine. So, I was sort of terrified. Haha I decided to go because why not? Okay, I did give out a reason why not. Hey! I really need to give this place a chance with my taste buds. I have to try out new things and that is why I decided to go. Guess what? It was one of the best decisions I made! Shabu Shabu Ichiban really caught me by surprise. Not did I only like what I ate, I could not stop eating there. I have been craving for Shabu Shabu Ichiban since then and my girlfriend finds it weird because I never crave oriental asian food. It is that good!

When I got there, first thing I noticed is the interior design of the restaurant. Well, of course, the food was still being prepared. I really liked how the designer was able to balance out the classic traditional Japanese style and combined it with modern industrial look. It was really well thought and with clean lines. Well done!
Now, the food! I cannot lie. My face was metaphorically written with question marks when the food arrived and I was in awe by the sheer volume of food at the time. My heart was panicking just a bit. Haha I boiled the meat and all in the soup which was in a hot pot. Sorry if my terminologies aren’t on point but I guess you get what I mean. After a few minutes, the meat was ready to eat. I was a little scared to try it out but I knew that I had to.
It was really good! No lies here. I would post this if I did not like it. The process really was part of the experience. The cooking and how the taste of the soup changes when you put in more of the stuff from the table. It was literally gastronomic for me! I enjoy cooking at home but this was fun. I also do not like my food touching but mixing the different kinds of meat to my base soup was fine. In fact, it made everything taste better. By the way, they have 24 soup bases for you to choose from! Yes! You heard that right! 24 soup bases! =)
Ofourse, I dug in to their tempura which actually complements well with the soup. That’s one thing I like from them. I always hate it when I eat at other Japanese restaurants and they serve us with tempura where it is like 50% breading. You get excited then you take a bite just to know that you have just bitten on the breading part because the prawn is in there somewhere. Haha Well, this on is different because the prawn is actually the same size as what you see in front of you. You get to bite off both the prawn and the breading at the same time! Now that is a bang for your buck!

The Skewered Bean-Paste Flavored Cutlet was also pretty good. It was fried just right and the sauce had that strong savory flavor which gives that cutlet that additional oomph! =)
Now the best has come! Their Alaskan King Crab was refreshingly full of flavor! These crabs were imported from Alaska to Cebu and I was surprised by how fresh it tasted. It was odd because I know it was imported but they managed to keep it really fresh while maintaining its flavor as well. It was one hell of a taste bud joyride! I really enjoyed it that I could not stop talking about it to Sophia. We will definitely be back there soon. I really want her to try the crabs! It’s really worth it! Shabu Shabu Ichiban Sets starts at Php 488 on weekdays and Php 688 on weekends. That is fairly affordable for the quality of shabu shabu you will get. Check them out right now at the Skypark in SM Seaside City Cebu.

Yes! I still have my fluffy gray hair in these photos. Haha Well, my gray hair wasn’t always fluffy but as it grew it went fluffier and fluffier. It took a lot of maintenance and I had no patience for that. So I decided to get rid of the color. Maybe soon I’ll give a hair color a try again but for now I’m keeping my natural color. Okay back to these photos! This pullover takes a lot of confidence to wear. Match it with the gray hair and I quickly learned how to ignore my surroundings. Haha I can’t deny that this combo will definitely turn heads.

I even remember the time when I bought this pullover at H&M. I was shopping with friends. I had my eyes set on the pullover so it’s the first one I took hold of. While looking for other stuff, I walked right back into the aisle where the pullover was hung and my friends were their talking about the pullover. They were like, “Whoa! The shirt is too much. You could pawn that. Hahaha” Trust me, it’s funnier in Visayan! Haha I even chuckled but I laughed even more when they saw the exact same pullover on my hand. They immediately withdrew what they said by saying that I am probably one of the few who could pull it off. Haha

This shirt is surely a statement in itself. For someone to pull this off, one must understand how it works. With that said, I started by understanding it’s shape. I know that pullovers have the same shape but this one is different. It falls to my body like those over sized pulllovers in the 90’s. Not the poofy ones. From there, I understood that it had to be worn with fitted pants to make sure I do not look big and, at the same time, complement the shape of the pullover. After that, everything was easy. Since the top was already very loud, I had to pair it with plain colors so as not to have the whole look implode. That’s it! First, understand the shape of what you’re wearing. Second, know the colors and make sure they do not clash! =)

Pinto http://jessejake.com/2017/pinto/ Thu, 25 May 2017 11:25:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/05/25/pinto/
The thing I like about visiting Manila is meeting and catching up with friends. I think I have already mentioned that here on my blog. Anyway, we also get to visit new places with them. This one is not really new but it was our first time visiting Pinto Art Museum. So I dare say it’s new! Haha. Kim, Jed, Sophia, and I went on a mini road trip to reach the museum and boy did we have loads of fun. I don’t know why but whatever we do with these guys. We always have a blast!

Funny thing when we went there is that we bumped into someone who was also wearing overalls like I did. Different manufacturers and different styling, though. I mean, what are the odds of two guys wearing overalls in the same place at the same time? Haha

The place was awesome and we had so much fun to and from the museum. We enjoyed the day with paintings, sculptures, installation art, architecture, food, and friends! You can never go wrong to the places you go as long as you are in good company. Thanks again, Kim and Jed! =)

I don’t know if you guys have noticed but I had this time when I really want to wear overalls. It was difficult looking for overalls for men. Luckily, I found some and now I have three! Haha I have yet to blog about the other one so that will be for another post.

Overalls, for me, are very functional! The pockets on your chest are very useful for almost anything you want to get a hold of as fast as you can. You also do not have to worry if your pants drop down an inch or something. I just love it! It was easy styling the overall. I just wore a white printed button up shirt. I made sure the print was in black and consistent all throughout so as not to make the combination messy. Topped the whole look with a medium brimmed fedora and round specs to complement the shape of the fedora. The white slip on shoes were automatic to balance out the white from the black. By the way, my hair was still gray when this was shot so I managed to maintain the look in monotone all throughout. I didn’t play with color since the look already played with an uncommon silhouette for men. =)

Landers Superstore http://jessejake.com/2017/landers-superstore/ Tue, 09 May 2017 07:42:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/05/09/landers-superstore/
Landers Superstore is finally here in Cebu! Yes, it is officially open today! I got so excited when I heard late last year that they were opening a branch here the Queen City. As many of you might not know, I actually cook. Believe it or not, I do. Haha I enjoy making my own stuff including making my own food. This is mainly the reason why I always enjoy going to craft stores, local market, and grocery stores. What more? A superstore that offers almost everything that offer both international and local goods at very awesome deals! =)

Trust me, when you visit this huge store, you will definitely buy things that you did not think of buying. The promotional deals they have for their opening which runs until the 15th of May is insane. Membership for the superstore is only Php 800 and it is buy one take one for Cebuanos up until the 31st of May! That’s basically just Php 400 only per card. =)
I couldn’t help but drool over their ice cream aisle. They have a whole aisle for ice cream! Imagine that! There’s definitely a lot of option of your favorite things here.
Members also get to enjoy FREE haircut at their in house barber shop, Federal Barbers. All you have to do is present your membership card along with any official Landers Superstore receipt (Superstore, Doppio, Landers Central. There is also no minimum amount or date required for the receipt. Now I know where to get my monthly haircut and do my shopping at the same time! =)
Landers Superstore has a lot to offer and it is just in the heart of the city. You have to go and visit them now to avail of their buy one take one membership as well as their buy one take one deals. They also have mark downs on a bunch of items which I am sure you would not want to miss! They are open from 9 AM until 9 PM everyday. So you have a lot of time to go and get that bang for the buck!

Black and Yellow http://jessejake.com/2017/black-and-yellow/ Mon, 10 Apr 2017 05:48:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/04/10/black-and-yellow/
I just noticed that I only have a few short sleeved shirts. I can seriously just count them of with my ten fingers. So, I decided that I needed to add up the digits since the summer heat is literally taking its toll on me. I don’t want to go in full tank top as well unless I’m on the beach or off to the pool. Let’s start with this shirt from Oxygen.

This shirt came from their Billboard Collection. What I really like about is how it’s really comfortable and breezy. Just what I needed! I like how it has that old school feel as well.

Tucked in shirt, pebble washed jeans, and socks are back! Yes, believe it or not. When they say that trends repeat around 20 to 30 years, It’s true! This one I particularly like because I grew up on these trends when my mum would style me when I was a kid. Okay, the jeans I am wearing on these photos are not pebble washed but the color is really close to it. I actually got legit pebble washed jeans from Bershka but that’s for another blog post. Haha Back to the outfit! I just simply tucked in my shirt and revolved to the colors blue, white, and red. I made sure to show off my white socks by folding my socks too. It’s fun playing around with proportions, tucking in, folding and colors! It may be a little tricky but you will get the hang of it. Just make sure that you put a modern twist on it to avoid looking costume-ish. =)

Colored Flags http://jessejake.com/2017/colored-flags/ Sun, 26 Mar 2017 08:35:00 +0000 http://jessejake.com/index.php/2017/03/26/colored-flags/
It is literally scorching hot now since it’s already summer and that is one thing that I really do not like about this season. It’s like deadly hot now! I mean, you can crack an egg in the middle of the road and leave it the to cook for about 10 minutes. Don’t ask… Yes! I tried it. Haha Good for us here in Cebu, the beach is just around the corner. Hurray! =)
These photos are from Bantayan. A very good friend of mine, Diane, asked me to go out and bask in the sun and enjoy the beach. I couldn’t say no! So we hopped in a bus and went there. It was really fun since we just camped out on the beach. There were not many tourists at the time so we had a good time chilling and relaxing.
It was really an adventure since we did not plan the trip. All we now was where we want to go and that we want to camp out on the beach, That’s it! Haha We had to walk alongside the beautiful shore to find a place where we were allowed to camp out. Good thing we found the perfect spot after 30 minutes of walking with our heavy back packs! It was fun, still.

I just noticed that I have always had the best memories every time I go to this island. This is why I keep coming back and I will be back there sometime next month. It was one of the best time I had with one of my best friends, Dianne. We did a lot of catching up and we will also be needing a lot of catching up specially that she is now engaged!
Ofcourse, I had one of the best times there with my girlfriend, Sophia. 3 days and 2 nights there with her was simply all I could ask for. Well, it doesn’t matter where though. As long as she is happy with me then it will be an awesome moment for me. =)
Okay, enough of the uber cheesiness from me. Now, about the look! This is what I wore when we were on our way back to the city. It is pretty basic since I want to get comfortable for the 3 hour trip back. Just wore a shirt and a pair of swim shorts. The abundant color is blue so I added warm colored accents such as the sun glasses and the flip flops to contrast from the blue. This also accentuates the yellow and orange highlights on the print of the shirt.
